Your Brand Says it All!

As a graphic designer and student I have come to understand more and more that a brand can be lost if it’s identity isn’t memorable. As designers and visionaries, our job is to think, perfect and stress over combining all the components of a brand and present it in a unified and cohesive way. That is not easy.

Right now I am part of a group rebranding project, over the past 10 weeks and it has not been easy, sometimes I’ve wanted to scream at my teammates. The work is hard, the thinking is challenging but the payoff is always worth the headache. Although we have yet to complete the rebrand, I know that it’s gonna be a winner.

I’m always searching for inspiration to keep my mind fresh and my thoughts current to the trends. This rebrand of Optus Communications by Jason Little, Alex Creamer, Alexis Waller, Marco Palmieri, Brad Stevens and RE: is a perfect example of the tedious and precise process designers go through to create a long lasting and recognizable brand.

  1. There is so much work that goes into building a well-designs and recognizable brand, not a lot of people really get that there's a lot of research and back-end work that has to be done in order to create and maintain a successful brand.

Stay strong, working with a team can be stressful, but the end product pays off :)

  2. I just checked out the Optus website. I've never heard of them before. The brand identity is so much more friendly and inviting. It is so cute which could be a negative because it makes the business seem a bit immature. But it seems, from the copy, they are targeting a younger audience. I agree with Ashley, brands are hard to design and maintaining it is even worse. Finding the key factor that makes you different is difficult. For you working in a team of all creatives it is frustrating because everyone has their own idea and style. You have to be able to convince people that your idea will work. Be able to back up your work and be passionate about it. You can do it!
